Welcome to Afro Curl Renaissance, a black girl’s guide to natural hair care.

This website is dedicated to helping African American women learn simple tricks and tips on how to properly maintain the health and shine of their luscious curls.

As the natural hair movement continues to gain momentum, Afro Curl Renaissance seeks to debunk myths about natural hair and educate women on the politics of their natural tresses.

The natural hair movement surged into mainstream society more than 30 years ago, as the Black is Beautiful movement flourished among young black men and women during the fight for civil rights. In the 1980’s the movement lost momentum, but now many black women are deserting their hot combs and chemical relaxers for natural styles again.

This website seeks to inspire African American women to embrace the authentic identity of their hair. Please join me on this exciting journey to natural hair.
